What is High Speed Mounter (aka Chip Shooter)?

High-Speed Mounter is a type of pick and place machine that operates in a high speed and mounts small chip component such as resistors and capacitors, which is typically set up in front of mounters of other types such as middle speed mounter or multifunctional mounter (aka high precision mounter).

Both Siplace X4iS and Siplace TX2i belongs to this category.

Siplace X4iS or Siplace TX2i? How to choose?

Among all the ASM Siplace mounters, Siplace X4iS is the fastest one with its theoretical speed up to 200,000 cph, while the theoretical speed of Siplace TX2i is 103,800 cph when adopting CP20P1 placement head.

With Long Board Option that requires license and input/output conveyor extension, X4iS is capable of mounting a PCB board of 850mm x 560mm, while the maximum PCB board size TX2i can mount is 550mm x 460mm with Long Board Option.

Looking at these capacity parameters along, X4iS seems like an absolutely better choice. However, there are other factors must be taken account: space and cost.

When adopting conveyor extension on 2 ends and other setups, the machine size of fully equipped X4iS is 2433 mm x 3640 mm x 1893 mm, while the size of TX2i is 1000 mm × 2230 mm × 1450 mm that is capable of being transported by freight elevator, which means X4iS takes up a lot more space than TX2i do and is a lot harder to transport. TX2i also costs fewer than X4iS do. And if you take a closer look at their placement speed at theoretical value, you would notice that 3 times of TX2i performance (311,400cph) is similar to 1.5 times of X4iS performance (300,000cph), while 3 TX2i machines would take up fewer space than 1.5 X4iS machines.

Therefore, the X4iS is preferred when the large PCB boards are mounted, while the TX2i is preferred when the small PCB boards that are commonly used in the consumer products are mounted and there is not enough space in the factory.
