What is High Speed Mounter (i.e. Chip Shooter)?

High-Speed Mounter is the pick and place machine that operates in a high speed and mounts small chip component like resistors and capacitors, which is typically set up in front of mounters of other types like middle speed mounter or multifunctional mounter (i.e. high precision mounter).

Both Siplace X4iS and Siplace SX4 belongs to this category.

Siplace X4iS or Siplace SX4? How to Choose?

Siplace X4iS is the fastest mounter so far, with its theoretical speed up to 200,000 cph and IPC speed up to 125,000 cph, which is faster than Siplace SX4, whose theoretical speed is 135,000 cph and IPC speed is 102,000 cph.

With Long Board Option that requires license and input/output conveyor extension, Siplace X4iS is capable of mounting a PCB board of 850mm x 560mm, while the maximum PCB board size Siplace SX4 can mount is 450mm x 325mm with Long Board Option.

It is safe to say that Siplace X4iS is better than Siplace SX4 in the most aspects. However, there is still another factor must be taken into account: the cost. Having the relatively close IPC speed, Siplace SX4 is much cheaper than Siplace X4iS. Therefore, Siplace SX4 is preferred by the plant, when mounting the small PCB board such as those inside the cellphone.
